ONA
Ona is a symbolic game that includes a set of abstract geometric pieces that form a system. It offers endless creative possibilities for building three-dimensional structures, encouraging and nurturing the imagination of young children. The shapes are abstractions inspired by the historic constructions of Barcelona. Our approach in creating the game was to preserve and honor the city's architectural heritage while giving it a fresh, non-representational perspective. However, the resulting compositions during the game don’t have to be strictly architectural. The abstraction has been taken to an extreme, allowing children complete creative freedom to play without limits.

“We're not reinventing Barcelona, but we're educating the children who will.” With this phrase, together with Lluc Pallicer, we launched this project. We wanted to present—though subtly, from the child’s perspective—a youthful, optimistic, and playful version of Barcelona. In the system we created, the pieces can be categorized by size: small, large, wide, and wide+small. The pieces are made from 12 mm honeycomb cardboard.

It’s also worth mentioning our references: the Bauhaus Toy, as well as House of Cards and The Toy by Charles & Ray Eames—works that have inspired us both aesthetically and conceptually.
