the light filtered through, warm and soft.
No matter how cold it was outside,
the seams outlined a reticulated glow,
and by moving the fabric,
I could shape a thousand different projections of light.
This lamp takes the form of that experience. A cozy, huggable, and warm light. The light itself had to meet these qualities—not the structure that projects it. To illustrate this, we refer to Readymade 01 by Normal Studio; although the structure is rigid and cold, the light it emits is not. It’s diffuse, soft. Another lamp that, in my view, achieves the same effect is Làmina by Antoni Arola, published by Santa & Cole in 2018; the light is perceived through the surface it reflects on: a white concave sheet. Both lamps, regardless of the structure that contains the light, manage to create a homogeneous, organic, and delicate atmosphere.
On the other hand, we do not disregard the importance of mobility. Interacting and playing with the fabric is essential. Making the light interact not only with the fabric but also with us will be key. The resulting lamp, then, is a metaphor for the comforter—for the nightly encounter with uncovered sheets, as previously described.
Edredón was selected to be part of the exhibition Inspired in Barcelona: Luce (2025), which explores the field of lighting through a perspective that connects the past, present, and future, within the framework of Milano Design Week. The installation, curated by Stefano Colli, is organized by the Barcelona Creativity & Design Foundation and promoted by the Regidoria de Cultura i Indústries Creatives de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona through the Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHub), and by the Government of Catalonia through ACCIÓ – Catalonia Trade & Investment.
