CARICIA Caricia (meaning “caress” or “soft touch” in spanish) is an alternative approach to hair removal. It emerges as a response to a subtle yet revealing detail in product design: women’s razors are often shaped exactly like men’s, even though the original form was designed for shaving the face or jawline. In contrast, women may use these same razors to shave areas that are much harder to reach in the shower, such as underarms, arms, legs, and even intimate areas. With that in mind—and especially by thinking about the gesture of a caress—we designed a new shape that reimagines the hair removal experience. For the grip, we arrived at a shape that resembles a bow or even fallopian tubes. This headpiece allows you to insert two fingers and naturally follows the movement of the hand: it can rotate in all directions, making it easier to reach different parts of the body without straining your posture. Using it means shaving with your palm extended, which completely changes the posture during hair removal. Because of its size and position, the fingertips can feel the surface of the skin while you shave, helping you detect whether there’s hair or not, and even anticipate the shape of the area you're working on.

One of the most important advantages of this new hand gesture is that it encourages shaving with the direction of hair growth. Conventional razors, due to their ergonomy, often push us to shave against the hair, a practice not recommended by dermatologists, as it can cause irritation. Caricia, on the other hand, naturally guides the hand to move in the same direction as hair growth, offering a much gentler shave for the skin.

The blades are interchangeable, making the product durable and built to stay with you over time. This is not a disposable tool—it’s a thoughtfully designed object meant to foster a different kind of relationship with your body and your self-care routine.

This is a proposal that looks at the body with care, and offers a new way to inhabit that moment—by simply changing the gesture: the caress.
